The birthplace of Alpine skiing
Arlberg the location of choice for anyone fascinated and attracted by the Alpine winter and the birthplace of Alpine skiing.
We have to go back to the 19th century to find the first signs of tourism in the Arlberg, with the pioneers of the Arlberg and the initial development of Alpine skiing, which became the basis of the legendary appeal of this ski region in modern times.
For example, Hannes Schneider founded the Arlberg school, thereby revolutionising ski touring, with the first cable car developed for winter operation (Galzigbahn) being constructed in St. Anton.
